Budding actors at the College brought to life the exciting world of the Brothers Grimm in December with their production of “Grimm Tales”.
This production was originally adapted by Carol Ann Duffy and dramatized by Tim Supple. It includes movement, mime and comic characterization. It features favourite fairytales like Hansel and Gretel, The Golden Goose, Ashputtel (the original version of the Cinderella story), A Riddling Tale, in the tradition of puzzle (riddles) and The Magic Table, The Golden Donkey and the Cudgel in the Sack. All performed with imagination and a modern twist or two.
The students’ interpretation of this classic featured slapstick comedy, puppets, movement, dance and even audience participation!
There were four performances in total, including a matinee, which I enjoyed with students from Alderbrook School. If their reactions - which included much giggling - is anything to go by they certainly enjoyed the show!
